A 26-year-old motorcyclist was thrown to his death after he lost control while allegedly speeding down a Marietta road early Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. on the Canton Road Connector, according to Marietta police.
Investigators said Mr. Mario A. Duke, of Marietta, was riding a 2004 Suzuki 600GSXR motorcycle on the Canton Road Connector, just east of I-75, when he lost control and left the roadway.
“After leaving the roadway, the motorcycle struck the guard rail and driver was ejected from the bike,” police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said. “Duke was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
No other vehicles involved in the crash, police said. And based on witnesses’ statements and evidence found at the scene, investigators believe speed was a contributing factor to the deadly crash.
Police have not said whether Mr. Duke was wearing a helmet.
Anyone with any information in regards to this crash is asked to contact Officer Stephen Miller at (770) 794-5356.
