The man wanted in the deadly shooting of his estranged wife allegedly committed suicide near a police station in Florida, police said Thursday.
Mr. Dondriele Moultrie, 42, allegedly shot Mrs. Melanie McQueen-Moultrie, 35, multiple times as she attempted to drive away in her vehicle on Feb. 11.
Police were called to the location around 5:30 p.m. and found the woman dead in front of her home on Emerald Court, off Martin Luther King Jr.
After the shooting, her vehicle had traveled a short distance and struck a mailbox, police said.
Within hours of the shooting, police asked for the public’s help in locating Mr. Moultrie who was seen leaving the area in a 2008 Teal Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, Officer John Chafee said previously.
The truck was found the next day in an undisclosed location.
The search continued for the suspect until Thursday, when Miami police contacted Atlanta police.
“We were notified earlier today that Dondriele Moultrie committed suicide around noontime yesterday next to a Miami Beach Police Precinct,” police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said Thursday.
