The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 inside Great Neck Park at 665 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck.
A 24-year-old man was sitting underneath a gazebo in the park when a “Hispanic subject” approached him, police said in the news release. The two men reportedly began to argue and the assailant pulled out a weapon.
Detectives said the victim was stabbed multiple times about the body with a weapon that they believe may have been a screwdriver. The man then fled from the scene and was last spotted heading west on Arrandale Avenue.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
