Homicide detectives on Long Island are investigating after a man was fatally shot Monday night after a fight at a house party in Central Islip.

Suffolk County police say the incident happened just before 10 p.m. at a home on Rosewood Street. Investigators believe a fight broke out when uninvited guests showed up at the house party and were asked to leave. During the fight, according to police, at least one gunshot was fired and a man was hit. He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was later pronounced dead. Police said a second man was “injured by unknown means” during the fight. He was also taken to Southside Hospital and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are not yet identifying any of the victims. Suffolk County homicide detectives were at the scene Tuesday morning and say they are still investigating.
