A man allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times and set fire to a home early Friday morning in Marietta.
Police arrested the man a short time later after finding him unconscious near I-75. But they have not released any details on the motive for the man’s alleged actions.
So far, Mr. Juan Espinal, 55, has been charged with aggravated assault, according to Marietta police.
The incident unfolded around 1:20 a.m. at 2004 Winterset Pkwy., police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.
Officers responded to the home after getting a report of a person stabbed. They found his wife with multiple stab wounds.
Mr. Espinal fled the scene in his vehicle after the attack and traveled to a home off of Brookhaven Drive in Cobb County, Officer Baldwin said. He did not say who owned the home.
Mr. Espinal set his vehicle on fire and subsequently set the residence on fire.
“The investigation revealed that the Brookhaven Road residence might possibly be involved in the original domestic incident,” Officer Baldwin said. But he did not provide any additional details.
Mr. Espinal was found several hours later unconscious on Chastain Road under I-75. He was rushed to Kennestone Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. His wife was also transported to Kennestone Hospital where she is listed in stable condition, Officer Baldwin said.
The occupants of the home on Brookhaven Drive were unharmed.
