A man was arrested after allegedly being caught with a body in the back of his truck earlier this week in Clayton County, police said Thursday.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the 10000 block of Misty Meadows Court in Hampton after getting a 911 call that someone had been shot by a man, police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Hughes said.
But when they arrived they found no victim and no perpetrator.
Still, they had been told that the perpetrator had a gray Toyota Tundra, which was also missing from the scene.
Officers along with detectives were checking the area and more than a couple of hours later, a detective located the gray Toyota Tundra in an undeveloped subdivision, Sgt. Hughes said.
“In the driver’s seat, was Donnell Sandifer and in the rear of the truck was a deceased male, Leandra Rowland.”
Mr. Sandifer was taken into custody. He remained in the Clayton County jail Friday without bond. Police have not released a motive for the murder.
