Cops: Garden City woman stabbed husband

A Garden City woman was arrested Sunday accused of attempting to murder her husband after stabbing him in the chest with a steak knife several times, Nassau County police said.

Elizabeth Marrinan, 47, has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon in connection with the stabbing.

Detectives said police officers responded to a domestic dispute call around 6:07 p.m. on Sunday at 159 Pine Street. “The argument became physical and Marrinan took a steak knife and stabbed the victim in the chest,” cops said in a news release.

When Garden City police officers arrived to the scene, Marrinan was taken into custody without incident. The victim, her 57-year-old husband, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, police said.

Marrinan was held overnight in police custody and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
