A 40-year-old Marietta man allegedly shot a man to death Sunday afternoon after seeing the younger man sitting in a car with the suspect’s ex-girlfriend.
Mr. Arthur Moses, Jr., 24, died of multiple gunshot wounds, Marietta police said Monday. The woman was not harmed.
Officers have charged Mr. Patrick Lamar Burr, of 112 Yancy Drive, with murder and aggravated assault, police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.
Around 2:30 p.m. officers arrived at 113 Griggs St. after getting a call about a person shot, police said.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that Mr. Burr, who was still at the scene, used to date the woman who lives at the home.
“Burr arrived at the house at approximately 2:30 p.m. and observed both Moses and his ex-girlfriend sitting in a car in the driveway of the house,” Officer Baldwin said. “Burr pulled out a pistol and began firing into the car.”
The man and woman got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee.
“But Burr was able to fatally shoot Moses before he could escape,” Officer Baldwin said. “Burr was still on scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody.”
He was transported to the Cobb County jail where he is being held without bond, the spokesman said.
