Leonel Volcy, 25, of New Cassel and Jamaar Monuma, 19, of Uniondale, will face a judge Aug. 30 for arraignment on the burglary and stolen property charges.
Detectives allege the two men broke into a garage at a home on Roman Avenue in New Cassel at 2:52 a.m. on Thursday. Once they were inside the garage, the two allegedly removed three tire rims, two engine heads and a muffler.
Cops said the men loaded the stolen goods into a 2001 Volkswagen parked nearby on Schmer Place.
Sometime during the theft, police were called, according to a news release. Responding officers found Volcy and Monuma as they were attempting to steal a fourth tire rim, cops said.
Authorities were able to recover all of the stolen items. The Volkswagen was impounded.
Volcy and Monuma were each charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. They will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
