Hollywood, California, (December 14, 2011) PAULEY PERETTE (NCIS), TOMMY DAVIDSON (In Living Color), EAGLES' Don Felder, TOTO's David Paich; musicians Keaton Simons, Robin DiMaggio, the Lopez Tonight Band, comics Joey Medina and John DiRista topped a long list of stars at Cops 4 Causes annual "Fallen Heroes" benefit night, at the Avalon in Hollywood.
Benefiting the Children Hospitals, Special Olympics and families facing life altering disabilities, Cops4Causes was celebrating its 5th year anniversary. President and founder, Deputy Christopher T. Landavazo encouraged guests to join the organization to help the community: “This year 166 officers have been killed in action and we want to honor their lives and the contribution they have made.”
NCIS Pauley Perette and Criminal Minds Kirsten Vangsness were just coming from set to host an event of stellar entertainment, and were very excited to be celebrating the Holidays and paying tribute to law enforcement and military heroes. Comedian Tony Davidson wasn’t shy with his talent and even did a rap version of the national hymn. His great abilities for impersonations were well demonstrated with hilarious Obama and Univision/Telemundo parodies; even Michael McDonald and Elton John seemed to be on the stage at one point.
Rock n Roll All-the-Fame and multiple Grammy Award winner, Don Felder performed Eagles classics like his own “Hotel California“ and “Take it Easy” showing his unique sliding skills with his double neck guitar. David Paich of Toto, and Keaton Simons rocking the house with the musical portion of the show produced by Robin DiMaggio who also performed.
The incredible comedy and musical performances were interspersed with the touching awards ceremony with celebrity presenters like Jilll Jacobson and Tony Denison. Some of the celebrities, like Tommy Davidson and Pauley Perette arrived in first responder cars exclusive... state-of-the-art vehicles dedicated to the wonderful heroes lost in 9/11! The evening's honorees included Sheriff Lee Baca (LASD), Chief Charlie Beck (LAPD), Chief Jim McDonnell (Long Beach P.D.), Chief Mark Yokoyama (Alhambra P.D.) and Chief Edward Medrano with the organization Visionary Award.
Numerous stars in attendance included Jack Osbourne, Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds), Todd Bridges, Ray Parker Jr., Ralph Rieckermann (Scorpions), Tony Denison (The Closer), Kate Linder (Young & The Restless), Judy Tenuta, Jill Jacobson (Hung), David Paich (Toto), Keaton Simons along with his famous dad, Eric Roberts and many more.
Additional awards were presented to past media and major sponsors including KCAL9/CBS2, The Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff’s (ALADS) and the Los Angeles Police Protection League (LAPPL). The approximately $50,000 raised at this incredible event will be used to support Cops 4 Causes’ outreach and support of our returning military veterans specifically, "The Fallen Heroes Fund,” earmarked for families of law enforcement members disabled or killed in the line of duty.
