I just returned from a first time brief weekend in Copper Mountain, Colorado. I am impressed with the ease of travel here from Denver, and the ease in finding the resort and my stay at Taylors Crossing. The underground parking at Taylors Crossing was a real treat, and made loading in and out convenient. Also it’s located in the middle of the action and the “mall” right out the front door of the lodge, again easy, and isn’t that what you want on a holiday, or-any-day, outing?
Spectators of the winter sports can enjoy it as much as those athletes and would be athletes, from several balcony/patio venues – inside warm and cozy or out, soaking up the sunshine. Tubing down the hill or taking a short zip line might also be available on the days you are there.
And you might even see celebrities, such as we did when Tommy Hilfiger and his party was grabbing a quick bite at the table next to us in in the East Village. Upscale dining at the C.B.Grille is a must if you are longing for gourmet and elegant ski lodge food and beverages. Our wait person, Joey, was attentive and amenable, as were the drinks he served.
If you are coming from a normal sea level elevation, such as 2000 feet, and arrive at the 9,000 feet height of Copper Mountain, you may want to schedule a day to recuperate from a mild case of altitude sickness. If you never experienced it, it is a light headed and or dizzy feeling, and will be combated by taking plenty of water and easy activities upon arrival. Your first 24 hours should be scheduled for total relaxation,
