Top snowboarders from around the globe are converging on Copper Mountain this week to compete for the title of overall winner during the kickoff to America's largest competitive snowboarding tour - the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix and Paul Mitchell Progression Session. Don't miss the chance to watch these athletes vie for coveted Olympic Halfpipe spots that will send them to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. You can find a full schedule of events at Copper's website.
With snow falling in the high country and more anticipated over the next few days, Copper Mountain now has 6 lifts open, including the Super Bee in East Village, which provides access to Skid Road, Andy's Encore from top to bottom and the lower part of Lower Collage. In addition, the Superpipe, Eagle Jib Park and Jibberish Park are all open, bringing Copper's total open terrain to 14 trails, 204 acres, two terrain parks, one Superpipe, and one tubing hill.
The Coca Cola Tubing Hill is officially open for the season, offering an alternative way to slide down the mountain. The tubing hill is located in the East Village at the base of the Super Bee lift and is divided into five lanes, allowing you to torpedo yourself down the hill without fear of bumping into anyone else. Reservations are recommended and can be made at any Guest Services location. Check Copper's website for the tubing hill calendar including hours of operation.
