Copper caps summer with cyclocross racing and charity golf challenge

Copper Mountain Resort ends its summer season this weekend with free music by Tab Benoit and Copper Cross mountain bike events.  In addition, Copper will host the Make-a-Wish Foundation's Circle of Hope Challenge at Copper Creek Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday Concert Series, featuring Tab Benoit, September 11

Enjoy live music during the final of three shows in the Saturday Concert Series. Free live music on Saturday, September 11 is provided by Tab Benoit in Burning Stones Plaza from 6 - 8 p.m. Since his debut in 1992, Tab has garnered fifteen solo recordings, three Grammy nominations, and a budding movie career, but his work as a wetlands activist might be his most notable achievement. His rich tone, soulful voice, and seeped-with-tradition songwriting make him Louisiana's #1 Roots music export.

Copper Cross, September 11 & 12

Short Track Mountain Bike Event, September 11

Copper is excited to host a short track mountain bike event on Saturday, September 11 as part of Copper Cross. Short Track is a mountain bike competition similar to a criterium where riders complete multiple laps on a short 3 - 5 min dirt course for 20 - 25 minutes. Short Track is a cross between a criterium race, BMX, cyclocross, and single-track--super-fast and very spectator friendly.

Cyclocross Mountain Bike Event, September 12

Long popular in Europe, cyclocross is now one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S.  Come check out the exciting and unique Copper Cross cyclocross race at Copper on Sunday, September 12 and see what all the hype is about. Cyclocross races consist of several laps on a short (1.5 - 2 mile) course featuring pavement, a Le Mans-style start, wooded trails, grass, steep hills, and obstacles requiring riders to quickly dismount and carry their bikes while navigating the obstruction and remounting. More details and registration information for both events is available at

Make-a-Wish Foundation's Circle of Hope Challenge, Copper Creek, September 11-12

Take part in one of the largest hole-in-one challenges at golf courses across the U.S. to raise money for terminally ill children during the Make-a-Wish Foundation's Circle of Hope Challenge at Copper Creek Golf Course, Sept. 11 & 12. The Circle of Hope Challenge is a ‘one shot' challenge where golfers get the chance to win merchandise from the Copper Creek Golf Shop and $1,000,000 in the Circle of Hope Challenge Million Dollar Shootout. On a select par 3 hole, golfers try to make a hole in one or hit their tee shot in a 20-foot diameter circle around the pin. You can enter the contest with a modest $20 donation to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. See the event website for more information on this and all the stops on the challenge.
