Chivas de Guadalajara did a number on Ascenso MX side Coras FC with a 3-1 victory at the Omnilife Stadium to kick-off their participation in the Apertura 2014 Copa MX. The Rebaño Sagrado used an alternate squad to take on their lower division rivals and demonstrated a speedy and dynamic game, leaving a good taste for the future of one of Mexico’s most popular teams.
Coach Carlos Bustos opted for a team that was mixed with youth players and those who are used as substitutes during league play. The goals came from Sergio Napoles and Carlos Fierro, the players who normally come off the bench.
It didn’t take long for Chivas to break the net. Napoles received a center in the 4th minute of play to open the goal gates. Eight minute later the ex-Cruz Azul player did it again giving the goats the 2-0. The final goal came from Carlos Fierro who found an opening in the Coras defense to put the game at 3-0.
However, Coras would react in the 79th minute when Carlos Cisneros put the ball in the net after Chivas appeared to relax on defense. The game would come to a close with Chivas winning 3-1. The next game is scheduled for Aug. 5, 2014. Coras will host Chivas in Tepic, Mexico.
