A cop has filed a lawsuit because he received a demotion related to Whitney Houston’s dead body. USA TODAY reports on March 11 that Sgt. Brian Weir believes he was demoted for reporting another officer who commented on her body. Weir claims the detective stared at her dead body and discussed it in an inappropriate way.
Weir is suing the city and police in Beverly Hills and states he was unfairly demoted for reporting a detective. Weir claims Det. Sgt. Terry Nutall looked at Houston’s body under the sheet and made comments about her appearance that suggested she still looked good. The singer was found naked in the bathtub of the Beverly Hilton, but Weir shares he put a sheet over her to protect her and secure the scene. He did not approve of Nutall removing the sheet to make comments about her body.
The Beverly Hills police department has denied that inappropriate comments or behavior occurred at the scene of Houston’s death. However, Weir blames the loss of his position as SWAT team supervisor for reporting this behavior. On the other hand, Nutall has been promoted and was never reprimanded for his alleged comments at the scene.
Weir blames simple retaliation for the harassment he believes he suffered in the police department. He now wants damages to be paid for the problems he suffered after reporting inappropriate behavior and believes he has been denied promotions.
