CrossFit Coolidge Corner (CFCC), Brookline’s first CrossFit facility, has announced its opening at 1285 Beacon St., in the heart of the Coolidge Corner neighborhood. CFCC is a premier CrossFit box; its strength-focused programming is based on the CrossFit principles of functional movements, universal scale-ability and constant variance while drawing from classic elements of gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, endurance training and cutting-edge sports performance corrective and mobility strategies.

CrossFit is a rapidly-growing and popular fitness movement with over 8,000 facilities nationwide. The 4,100 square foot facility, is open seven days a week and offers eight daily one-hour small group training classes centered around the CrossFit “Workout of the Day” (WOD) and a Reebok-branded apparel and gear retail store. CFCC is a high-level CrossFit box and features the latest equipment from Rogue Fitness, Again Faster and EliteFTS including:

  • Lift Platforms
  • Rogue Fitness Monster Pull-Up Rigs
  • Rowers
  • Again Faster Size Adjustable Box Jumps
  • EliteFTS Specialty Bars

CFCC is managed by head coach, Brett Kokoruda, a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and a Level 1 Certified CrossFit coach who has trained individuals at all levels - from youth sports to professional athletes - in the CrossFit program of exercises, as well as corrective exercise moves and sports mobility strategies.

“CFCC is not just another CrossFit box. Our goal is to help a wide range of individuals enhance their overall strength development and athletic performance by emphasizing proper functional movement tailored to each specific member, regardless of their current fitness level,” said CFCC Head Coach Brett Kokoruda. “We focus on a prudent application of the CrossFit methodology along with cutting-edge sports performance corrective and mobility strategies—helping our members push past what they perceive as their own limitations, but never compromising good form or safety.”

CFCC is a Reebok-affiliated facility and is owned by the local fitness company BodyScapes, which first opened its full-service club, BodyScapes Fitness, in Brookline six years ago. CFCC, located directly below BodyScapes Fitness, offers flexible month-to-month membership rates with packages that include full access to the BodyScapes facility and its amenities, such as group fitness classes, cardio machines, locker areas, bathrooms and showers. CFCC offers all members free on-site parking.

BodyScapes Fitness was founded on the principal of a uniquely personal approach to physical fitness and high-touch training and that philosophy is at the core of CFCC. To maintain the quality-to-coach ratio, all CFCC classes will be at a 1:10 ratio of coach to member and each new CFCC member must go through an initial assessment with a qualified CFCC coach. During the assessment, each member will be evaluated for their current fitness level and it will be an opportunity for him or her to discuss their unique needs and goals with the CFCC staff.

“We first opened BodyScapes Fitness in Coolidge Corner because the neighborhood was in need of a community gym,” said Rob Shapiro, founder of BodyScapes. “Many of our club managers and personal trainers have been following the CrossFit principles for years now and as soon as a large workout space became available on the first level of our building, we jumped on the opportunity to open an entire space dedicated exclusively to CrossFit training,” added Shapiro.

The facility features floor-to-ceiling glass windows looking out to tree-lined Beacon Street and stands out architecturally with its marque blackberry-painted wall featuring the CrossFit Coolidge Corner logo and exposed pale green cement walls. Other features include the latest audio sound system technology, both an artificial turf and rubber training floor, two changing rooms with storage cubbies and wallet/key lockers for daily use.

CrossFit Coolidge Corner is easily accessible from the Coolidge Corner T-stop on the green line. For more information, visit
