A cold front will move through the state by Monday evening, allowing much cooler and drier to plunge south across the state.

In a matter of fact, this will be the coolest airmass of the season, thus far

High temperatures by Tuesday will struggle to reach 80 degrees statewide.

Low temperatures will drop into the mid and upper 40s across portions of Central and Northern Mississippi by Wednesday morning, with lows in the low to mid 50s elsewhere.

This will be the first time in 4 months (May)-- since temperatures dropped into the 40s over a wide area across Central and Northern Mississippi.

Cooler and drier air was already filtering into  Northern Mississippi, Monday morning.
