This weekend will be great for speckled perch anglers. Yes that’s a freshwater adventure. You offshore guys and tourist that can’t fish due to the weather might think about fishing for specks. Specks like the cold and they are almost ready to spawn. This means the schools are larger and you will catch more fish. Speckled perch are one of the tastiest fish anywhere.
Many fish camps do have camper accommodations or motels so you can spend the weekend and enjoy some of Florida’s finest fresh water fishing. For example, North of Tampa Bay, Pana Vista Lodge on lake Panasoffkee has overnight accommodations. To the south, on Lake Istokpoga you have Trails End Fish Camp, Henderson’s Fish Camp and on Lake Okeechobee there are many places to stay. To the east of Tampa Bay there are too many lakes and fish camps to mention, But Grape Hammock on the Kissimmee chain comes to mind.
