Cool jazz and hot ribs are in the spotlight at the Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest

Connoisseurs of barbecued ribs and jazz music are in store for a real treat at an event that will combine both when Columbus, Ohio presents its 35th annual Jazz & Rib Fest on Friday, July 18, Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 in the city's Arena District. It is approximately a 2 hour drive from Cleveland to Columbus.

Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest A free, family-friendly event with activities sure to please all ages, the Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest will feature more than 40 local, regional and international jazz artists performing on two stages and 23 award-winning barbecue teams (representing 10 states and Canada) competing for the "Best Ribs" award while providing lots of finger-licking tasty food for visitors.

In addition to all the great music and all the delectable ribs, there will be a variety of other activities for visitors to enjoy including a Columbus Crew interactive area and fun for the kids at the Columbus Blue Jackets' Bounce House.

The Festival will also feature the Big Bite Tour, an interactive exhibit offering food-eating contests, taste samples, games, music and much more. And be sure to check out the Buckeye Mobile Tour where kids can enjoy the Buckeye Pop-A-Shot, football toss and field goal kick.

Columbus' COSI Museum will have interactive Science Spots (Sunday only from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.) at various locations at the Festival offering an educational science experience.

And on Saturday, don't miss watching The Color Run labeled as the "Happiest 5K on the Planet." The Color Run is a unique paint race which celebrates happiness, healthiness and individuality.

Visitors can also visit the Char-Broil Infrared Tour where they can learn some grilling secrets and enjoy some free food samples. And stop by the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station and test your strength when you participate in their Marine Corp Pull-Up Challenge.

You can be sure that there will be plenty of food (in addition to the ribs) available for purchase.

Hours for the Jazz & Rib Fest are 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. - 8 :30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
