Cooking with thyme

See also

Those who don't use all the herbs and spices available to them when cooking are overlooking some of the healthiest foods on the planet. Many herbs are so easy to grow, dry and use year-round. Thyme is considered one of the top antioxidants because of the unique blend it carries in its DNA.

Thyme is an antiseptic and antibacterial containing calcium, iron, manganese, vitamin K and fiber. Can a person really get enough of these nutrients and antioxidants from the amount of thyme in one recipe? If you use it only once and only eat a small portion, probably not. However, herbs and spices used regularly can make an improvement in overall health.

The antioxidants in herbs are greatly concentrated, making them beneficial even when eating a small amount. Antioxidants help slow the aging process and offer protection against all types of degenerative diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, macular degeneration and Alzheimer's, to name a few.

Pairing thyme with rosemary is a good choice because these two herbs complement each other in taste. To get the most benefit, serve the dish with a small sprig of fresh thyme on top. For even more of a health benefit, make a fresh herbal tea with thyme, especially for upper respiratory illness. For more herbal recipes using thyme, visit Natural News.
