Remember how much fun it was to find the prize in the cereal box or Crackerjacks? BonBon cookies are made with surprises inside. The fancy cookie is as easy as 1-2-3 and so much fun to make. Kids will love mixing, filling and dipping these cookies. BonBons are so pretty they make a great gift.
BonBon Cookies (very frugal) 20-25 cookies
- 1/2 softened butter or margarine
- 3/4-cup confectioner's sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
Mix ingredients by hand. Kids will love this! Heat oven 350 degrees.
BonBon Icing
Mix:
- 1-cup confectioner's sugar
- 2 tbsp cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
*For chocolate icing, add 1 ounce of unsweetened chocolate and 1/4 cup of cream.
*Add red or green food coloring for Christmas flair
BonBon Fillings: Chocolate covered raisins, gummi bears, jellybeans, chocolate kisses, maraschino cherries, Jordan or plain almonds, pecans, the possibilities are endless. Check out bulk candy at the grocery stores.

Making BonBons:
- Wrap level tablespoon of dough around filling. (Hint: put tbsp of dough on waxed paper and flatten your hand) Place on cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Bake 12-5 minutes until dough sets, but not until brown.
- Dip tops of warm cookies in icing or use a spoon to completely cover bonbons in icing.
- Decorate cookies with coconut, nuts, colored sugars, colored sprinkles, chocolate drizzles, granola, etc.
Tips
BonBon cookies will keep a week or so in the refrigerator or indefinitely in the freezer.
For chocolate cookies add 1 ounce of melted unsweetened chocolate
