Ingredient for making Toffee Bars:
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- ¾ cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/3 cup chopped chocolate-covered toffee pieces
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Directions for making Toffee Bars:
Beat butter and sugar; add egg and vanilla beating well. Beat in flour and salt.
Spread dough evenly in an ungreased 13x9 baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until the edges begin to brown and the surface is dry. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle evenly with the chocolate chips or chocolate pieces. In a couple minutes, when the chocolate is softened, spread it evenly over the entire surface. Sprinkle with the nuts and toffee pieces. Let cool before cutting into bars.
