- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 2/3 cup butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup milk chocolate pieces
Directions for making Butter Pecan Turtle Cookie Bars:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, mix together the flour, 1 cup brown sugar and ½ cup melted butter. Pat in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with the pecan halves.
In a medium-sized saucepan, stir together the 2/3 cup butter and ½ cup brown sugar. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until well blended and the entire surface begins to boil. Boil for 1 minute (keep stirring) and remove from the heat. Pour this mixture over the pecans and the unbaked crust.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the milk chocolate pieces over the caramel layer. Let stand for 3 minutes then slightly swirl the chocolate – do not attempt to spread the chocolate.
Let the bars cool completely, then cut into squares.
