Accomplished cook, experienced food writer and editor, Susanna Tee, is no stranger to the kitchen. According to Tee, in her cookbook 1 Mix, 100 Muffins, you need only one basic mix which will yield 100 different types of muffins! She explores each with simple, easy to understand recipes and scintillating photographs that will surely cause your mouth to water and leave you thinking "I must have a muffin!"

Recipes are categorized under headings such as 'Indulgent', 'Fruit & Nut', and 'Savory'. I found the savory section quite interesting - would you ever think to include chorizo sausage (supplement with turkey sausage), tomato & basil, and smoked salmon & dill in a muffin mix? Well, Susanna Tee was bold enough to do so, and has created a successful collection of recipes that are indeed good conversation starters and that are also quite yummy on the palate! I was delighted to see that the recipes included Frosted Cream Cheese, Apple Streusel, Citrus Fruit, and Oat & Cranberry.

Of course you don't have to be a baker but your muffins are going to look very professional! Since the basic ingredients are listed in each recipe, this allows you to try a variety of combinations, if you want to try your hand at something new. For example, for the Halloween Pumpkin Muffin, Tee glazed her muffin with jarred Dulce de Leche; however, you can use whipped cream cheese for your topping instead - I found this substitute just as delectable!

Adding a copy of 1 Mix, 100 Muffins by Susanna Tee to your pantry bookshelf is a great investment, especially for those moments when you're looking for the ideal treat.
