Event will feature four new plays by local graduate-student playwwights at the Liminis Theater on February 6 through 15, 2014
For the third year, Convergence-Continuum will be presenting Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts Playwrights Festival at the Liminis, located at 2438 Scranton Road, Cleveland, Ohio in the historic Tremont neighborhood.
This year’s festival will feature two full length plays by final-year MFA candidates and two ten-minute plays by second year grad students. The works are part of a three-year intensive program under the tutorage of playwright and Professor Mike Geither and are co-produced by Convergence-Continuum.

“River Sky (Soapocalypse Now) is a dramatic comedy set in the future where the environment. Economy and social interaction are at peril. Cave dwelling is commonplace yet with the disparity of wealth some can sail on luxury cruises with soap-opera stars. The play is directed by Convergence-Continuum’s Tom Kondilas and features Liz Conway, jack Matuszewski, Michael Regnier, Amy Bistok Bunce and Wes Shofer in the starring roles.
“Delta 32” is a ten minute science fiction inter species drama directed by Cory Molner and features Lisa Wiley, Rob Branch and Amy Bistok Bunce.
“Warlords of Walderhaven” is a comedy that features four geeks who dream of becoming heroes in a role playing game and their astonishing female “doubles”. The play is directed by con-con Artistic Director, Clyde Simon and featuring con-con’s Zac Hudak, Bobby Coyne, Eric Sever, Beau Reinker, Jaclyn Cifranic, Lauren B. Smith, Denise Astorino, Lisa Wiley, Laura Starnik and Rob Branch.
Murphy’s Law Department by Monica Morgan is a ten-minute comedy set in a hitherto unknown region of the afterlife. Directed by Cory Molner, featuring Wes Shofner, Beau Reinker and Denise Astorino.
The 2014 NEOMFA Playwrights Festival opens Thursday, Feb. 6 and runs at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 15 at the Liminis, 2438 Scranton Rd., Cleveland, OH 44113. The Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (NEOMFA) is a consortium of Cleveland State University, Kent State University, The University of Akron and Youngstown State University that allows students to take classes on four different campuses and earn a degree from a single unified writing program. Emerging writers may study in four genres – creative non-fiction, fiction, playwriting, and poetry – and take advantage of the resources offered on all four campuses. Since its inception in 2005, the NEOMFA has offered small-group workshops, open readings, summer travel fellowships, and high-profile visiting writers, in addition to career-preparing internships, competitive graduate funding, and a diverse Midwestern landscape that tempts the creative eye.
