Control games with your feet through the Stinky Footboard

No longer will we have to succumb to our dreams for gaming nirvana. Playing games with our feet is now a reality. Counter Strike handstands anyone?

Stepping up your game is no longer a figure of speech. The newly announced Stinky Footboard is designed to give PC gamers a fresh edge with customizable controls on your, you guessed it, foot.

The Stinky Footboard will transform how PC gamers play by adding the player’s feet to the classic keyboard and mouse control paradigm” read a press statement today. “This does not replace the traditional keyboard and mouse, but is used in tandem with them to provide greater flexibility.” a representative clarified.

I tried a lot of different types of PC controllers, but always came back to the keyboard and mouse. Then I thought, why should we limit ourselves to two hands to control games,” said Co-Founder and R&D Director of Stelulu Technologies, Luc Levasseur.

Created by gamers, the SFB allows 4 keys to be mapped from the keyboard. In addition, the board supports modifiers such as control, alt and shift, giving players up to 16 actions to perform on a single board. Impressive to say the least. Notable actions include strafing in a FPS, item switching and quicker reaction times. The video depicts MMOs, with a snippet of a FPS; it’ll be interesting to see how other genres benefit from it’s use.

If you’re headed to PAX-EAST the SFB will be available for live demo play, so be sure to give it whirl if this device tickles your gaming fancy. The board itself is constructed out of steel, aluminum and heavy duty plastic. In other words, it can withstand your rage quits and losing tantrums. You can also adjust the sensitivity by tightening or loosening the “User Adjustable Tension Box” (TBOX).

Whether or not this peripheral will catch on remains to be seen. The Stinky Footboard is due out in June for $119 and can be pre-ordered via the kickstarter page.
