Donate to schools up to two hundred dollars ($200.00) and it will be returned 100% to you from Arizona taxes. That is paid directly from the taxes that you owe. It will reduce what you owe by $200, or increase your return by $200. It is not simply $200 deducted from your income. If you are married, and file together, $400 can be deducted.
This is especially rewarding because you can choose where the money goes. You can give it to your child’s school. You can choose whether it goes to sports, arts, music, library. or in a general fund to assist the teachers in supplies.
Lineweaver Magnet school has an art program, OMA. Included in this is the music group which plays recorders. The recorders are purchased by the program. Anyone can continue to challenge and enter the Honors group.
This fall, The Lineweaver Honor Recorders performed for a group at Camp Cooper. Also, the choir from Rincon High School performed. Another program aided by tax donations. The total recorder group performed at Lineweaver for families and friends to warm applause.
Field trips are often covered in the money donated to schools. This includes stays at Camp Cooper where children learn about the desert, and get to observe and touch various animals like tarantulas and snakes.
Artists also are hired to teach various venues at the school.
You can check at TUSD, Amphitheatre, Flowing Wells, or at your neighborhood school for information on programs asking for donations. Whether you child or grandchild is a sports enthusiast, an artist, a musician or just an avid reader, you can help.
