The corner of Irving Park Road and Park Street in Roselle will soon feature two bronze statues and seven flagpoles.
Upon land donated by the village, a Veterans Memorial is slated for completion this Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11).
The Memorial will feature a kneeling soldier statue, a battle cross statue, seven flagpoles (one for each of the five branches of the military as well as the American flag and the Prisoner of War flag), and the names of deceased Roselle veterans.
American Legion Post 1084 is the force behind this community-wide initiative. To help fund the project, the Legion is selling memorial bricks ($100-$300) to honor active and former service members. Local supporters can also purchase bricks. Details appear on the Memorial website.
Or, enjoy spaghetti as a way to support the Memorial. All proceeds will benefit the Memorial project. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for children. For details, contact Maryann Grygiel.
