If you need home repairs be careful who you call. Jon Lang of Premium Fence and Construction has left many customers without repairs, after they have paid for them.
According to KEZI 9 News, Lang was hired by Kim Anderson of Springfield to build a fence around her home. Anderson states he did the work but it was not worthy of pay. When Andersen and her husband confronted Lang, he became angry. The Anderson’s decided to do their own repairs to the fence.
Other victims of Lang’s promises were left without work done. Lang states he plans on having his bond take care of the monies he owed home owners. Bonds will go after the funds owed by contractors. Lang has definitely not seen the end of the fiasco he created in Springfield, Oregon. KEZI reports that Lang left town.
He did the work. It was completely shoddy. There were so many things that did not even meet our expectations at all. When we addressed him, he got very angry with us.
Another Springfield woman is taking action against Lang after she says he skipped town with her down payment for work to be done around her home. Carla Ramirez states she is out of more than $4,000, and no work has been done. She found there were quite a few victims from Lang’s scam, including an elderly couple.
Ramirez phoned several contractors to come to her home and give her a bid for a fence and deck. Ramirez decided to go with Premium Fence and Construction because the owner gave her the best deal. Lang stated he was new in the business and was trying to make a name for himself.
Ramirez contacted Lang after work was not being performed as contracted. Lang informed her he was re-scheduling. He told Lang he would be at her home on Monday, July 27, but never showed up. Lang phoned Ramirez, telling her he couldn’t be there until the 28 and once again, never showed. On Wednesday, an employee phoned Ramirez and requested another re-scheduling as they were busy. Ramirez asked for her money to be returned.
Ramirez sent Lang a text, asking for her down payment. She asked that a check be dropped off at her home.
Lang sent Ramirez a return text, stating that nobody tells him what to do and that he had already spoken with an attorney. He added that he could keep her money if he wanted to be mean.
Lang added in that he never loses a case with the attorney he has hired. Ramirez reported that Lang has moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado since the confrontation. She is seeking help form the Oregon Contractors Board, senators and the governor.
Ramirez is still in contact with the elderly couple who also fell prey to Lang’s horrible practices.
Since Lang was licensed and bonded, checking these credentials with contractors may not protect you and your family from fraud. Contractors will perform work without having to be paid before the work has begun. Sometimes the lowest bidder isn't always the best choice.
