'Continuum' visits Alec's farm (Photos)

Julian: “Why are you being so cooperative all of a sudden?”

Alec: “You’ve got the guns and the manpower. I’m not stupid.”

“Family Time” is the newest episode of Continuum. Warning this article does contain spoilers. Continuum airs Monday nights at 7 on Syfy, channel 60 for Houstonians.

Kiera and Carlos head out to a farm to investigate an unusually large purchase of fertilizer. As it turns out, the farm they visit is Alec’s family’s farm. Things quickly escalate into a standoff. This is a great way to have everyone in the same place. Alec and Carlos haven’t really interacted much, and unfortunately they don’t have more than a couple lines of dialogue. It would have been great to have a one on one scene with the two of them. Kiera gets to know a lot about Alec’s family, which he has sort of hidden from her. It isn’t like he consciously never spoke about his family, it just didn’t come up a lot. Did you enjoy the episode?

There are a couple predictable moments in this episode. The big one is that Alec’s stepfather, Roland, would die. Everyone assumes that he is the one behind the standoff, and Kiera never gets the chance to correct Dillon when she speaks to him. That being said, there is a bit more tension and suspense in the storyline because it is fairly obvious that he will die. If the writers wanted a shock factor, however, they didn’t get it. Did you call it early on that Roland would die?

One interesting twist is revealed in this episode. Kagame is Julian or well, wait – Julian is a young Kagame. There, that makes sense, right? This definitely shifts viewer’s perspectives of both of them a bit. Hopefully the writers will show some future shots of Kagame and Alec. Their dynamic from here on out will be even more interesting to watch. The writers have really limited the 2077 scenes to showing Kiera and Liber8. It would be beneficial to show more of Alec, Julian/Kagame, and maybe even Carlos. Would you enjoy seeing those kind of future scenes?

Leave me your thoughts in a comment below. Did you enjoy seeing Kiera in the suit again? Do you like it in black or copper more? What are your thoughts on Kellog and Kiera? Make sure you hit subscribe!
