'Continuum' introduces a new player

Carlos: “Based on listening to my gut, you should try it sometime.”

Kiera: “I listen!”

Carlos: “No you watch and you calculate, which is a good tactic, but I think you should trust your instincts a little.”

“Matter of Time” is the newest episode of Continuum. Warning this article does contain spoilers. To review the last case file, click here. Continuum airs Monday nights at 7 on Syfy, channel 60 for Houstonians.

Kiera and Carlos look into the death of a Professor Aimes. Now it’s a little fuzzy on what exactly happened to him. It seems like his experiment was sabotaged, thus resulting in his death and then the subsequent stealing of his research. What’s interesting about the case is that Kiera decides to start listening to Carlos’s advice. She decides to try turning off her tech and listening to her gut. Of course Carlos doesn’t really catch this, but Alec does. She is already without her suit, and so she has less access to her tech, but she always has some tech inside her head. It’s hard to remember exactly how that works. What would be great to see is an episode where she either chooses to go without tech or something happens that cuts off her access. Would you like to see that?

This is the first time that Kiera does something that goes against her training as a protector or a cop. She lets Melissa go after learning who she is going to be and more importantly, what she is going to do in the future. Hopefully the writers will continue to have instances where Kiera has to make tough choices and/or having Kiera wrestle with this decision and future ones. Maybe Alec will continue to question Kiera’s actions. He could be a good conscience. Do you think Kiera did the right then?

The writers are continuing to follow the terrorists and their actions. When it comes to Kellog, it really isn’t all that exciting. He spends time with his grandmother, and goes shopping and buys a yacht. Honestly there isn’t a point. It’s not entertaining, and it doesn’t advance any known plot all that much. Now the rest of the terrorist group has something interesting going on. Their leader, Edouard Kagame has returned. Not a lot happens in this episode aside from his return, but it does set up a lot of possibilities. Now the terrorist group will have direction, and will hopefully start preparing for a war. What do you think their next move will be?
