Kiera: “I need you working on solving my murder. Besides, you’ve always been really good at looking out for yourself, Alec."
Alec: “You’re never going to let me live this down, are you?”
Kiera: “Not in this timeline.”

When there are two Alec Sadlers, things get a little messy. Let’s focus on Future!Alec (the one who witnessed Emily dying) first. He is not in a good place with Kiera. It is interesting to see the two of them on the outs. The writers still manage to have some of their banter, but it is a little snarkier, at least on Kiera’s part. Even though Kiera says she doesn’t trust him, she sort of act likes she does. She relies on him to help her solve the mystery of who killed her. Of course, it’s a little difficult when Future!Alec has to sneak into his own lab.
Carlos gets dealt a lot in this episode. Surprisingly, Kiera fills him in on everything. Most of the episode is spent on him dealing with the trust issues, and how he is very concerned on who this Kiera is to him. Let’s be honest, the main difference between Kiera and Present!Kiera (the dead one) is that Kiera has been his partner for a week longer. I don’t know about you, but the last scene of him drinking alone at a bar made me suspicious. Do you think he is drinking away his confusion on all things time travel or that maybe he is drinking because he is the one who killed Kiera?
Jim Martin is back. I don’t know about you, but it took me a minute to realize who he was. He spends the episode trying to save himself from Liber8 by seeking immunity. Unfortunately, Liber8 somehow knows what Jim is up to, kidnaps him, and makes him record some video that somehow ends his political career. Seeing as how we only see like five seconds of the video, it is a little difficult to follow what exactly happened. The basics seem to be that he committed political suicide, and in the end, it looks like he committed suicide. What are your thoughts on Mr. Mayor?
Kellog is a constant source of amazement and confusion. Somehow, he figures out that there are two Alecs running around. This is not something is obvious, and his explanation for knowing why are vague. The writers need to do a better job at dropping more hints about Kellog. He has some agenda, but no one knows what. For some reason, he wants Emily’s assistance. Emily is another character we know nothing about other than she kicks ass. Both these two characters are intriguing, but the writers need to start sharing some intel. What are your theories on Kellog and Emily?
Here are some thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Present!Alec mainly spends his time learning things that we saw him learn at the end of last season. It will be exciting to watch him figure out what is going on with the blood in the lab, and his current tech problems. The scenes take place in 2067 are confusing. All that is easy to understand is that Kiera’s looks terrible, and she chooses the law over her family. There is also something about life credits and her mother being forced to sell things by someone. Honestly, episode would have been fine without those scenes in it.
Leave me your thoughts in a comment below. When do you think Emily will start to suspect something is up with Alec? Is Liber8 really doing anything exciting right now? Personally, I’m more interested in learning who shot Future!Kiera.
