Consumers pick their favorite chain burgers

Other than vegetarians and Martians, who doesn't like a good hamburger?

According to an annual poll by Restaurants & Institutions magazine, 85% of consumers visited at least one of the burger chains listed in R&I's "Consumers' Choice in Chains" survey in the past year, more than visited any other type of concept.

Gen Xers (ages 27 to 41), boomers (42 to 60) and those who have children at home are among those most likely to patronize such chains.

Seven of the top 16 chain burgers on the list are available in Upstate New York. The rankings, in order (those with New York availability are in dark type):
