A huge construction project is getting underway at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Construction work will last until 2018 and provide many jobs for people in the construction industry.

Projects include renovations in all the airport's terminals for a cost of $300 million, expansion of Terminal Four at a cost of $450 million, upgrades to Terminal One, the construction of the South runway for a cost of $791 million and other projects, according to an article by Ken Kaye in the February 16 Sun Sentinel.

All this means that people who want to work in the construction industry are more likely to get opportunities.

"I think this is just wonderful. It has been hard to get construction work but I think will be able to get a good construction job now at the airport," said Randy Fields.

"This will mean more work for years and I am hoping to work on the terminal buildings," said Ryan Cook.

People in the South Florida construction industry suffered years of unemployment and underemployment. Now because of the airport project, those in the building trades will likely see more opportunities to work.
