Conspirare hosts a festival of musical passions

Conspirare is hosting a two week festival that explores suffering, empathy and redemption through music. Known as comPassion, this choral festival runs from June 5 through June 15 and is made up of performances and dialogues that examine the human experience through music. There are a total of four different programs and there is still time to take advantage of these activities including the concerts and the pre-concert talks with the performers.

A Gnostic Passion by Doug and Brad Balliett - The Texas premiere of new music on ancient texts by cutting-edge composers who happen to be identical twins.

St Matthew Passion by J.S. Bach - Bach’s great sacred oratorio recounts the persecution and suffering of Jesus. Tenor Dann Coakwell will perform his signature role as The Evangelist and baritone Paul Max Tipton as Jesus. The performances will be presented with period instruments flown in from all over the world. Members of the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra will join more than 35 Company of Voices singers in the Conspirare season finale. Tickets are available online.
