Conservatives on Twitter upset with Obama's claim that U.S. occupies countries

Conservatives on Twitter were not too happy to hear President Obama suggest the United States occupies other nations in the war on terror during Tuesday's State of the Union speech, Twitchy reported.

"It's true, different Al Qaeda affiliates and extremist groups have emerged, from the Arabian Peninsula to Africa. The threat these groups pose is evolving. But to meet this threat, we don't need to send tens of thousands of our sons and daughters abroad or occupy other nations. Instead, we'll need to help countries like Yemen, Libya, and Somalia provide for their own security and help allies who take the fight to terrorists, as we have in Mali," Obama said. "And, where necessary, through a range of capabilities, we will continue to take direct action against those terrorists who pose the gravest threat to Americans," he added.

But many responded by saying that the U.S. liberates other countries.

"Does the US occupy Afghanistan, or are we trying to save it? Calling it an occupation is insulting to our military," tweeted Ari Fleischer.

"'OCCUPY OTHER NATIONS'? The US liberates, Mr. President," added Richard Grenell.

"I can't believe POTUS actually said we 'occupy other nations'. During the SOTU. Remarkable, absolutely remarkable," another person tweeted.

One person said that Obama "can't hide how much he hates America."

Several critics of Obama's drone programs weighed in on the issue, Twitchy said.

"Ya see, we don't need to send soldiers or occupy places anymore -- we just drone everyone, anywhere we want," one person said.

"We don't occupy nations says POTUS ... nope he'll just drone them," said another.

In addition to the drone program, the U.S. has provided millions in logistical aid to support French and Chadian troops deployed in northern Mali in efforts to flush out al Qaeda-linked militants in that African country.
