Conservative revolt against Mitt the RomneyCare RINO

Opinion--The term 'RINO' stands for 'Republican in Name Only.' It is somewhat of a misnomer due to the fact that whoever wants to belong to a political party can do so, regardless of whether or not they agree with the party's platform and philosophy.

No one is suggesting that Mitt Romney is not a Republican. He is. But so are Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Lisa Murkowski, and Scott Brown, all of whom have proved by their votes that they are more in line with liberals and the ideals of the Democratic Party than with conservatives.

The reason, thus, that such persons are called RINOS is that it is a moniker that has stuck, in reference to those Republicans who can be counted on to oppose conservative principles.

Thus, Mitt is a RINO. And he pushed for and got a program in Massachusetts, 'RomneyCare,' that one and all among political insiders agree is the blueprint for ObamaCare.

But that isn't Mitt's only problem. As Governor of Massachusetts he supported abortion and appointed pro-abortion judges to the bench. He even stated that he believed that under aged minors who wanted abortions but could not get parental approval to do so should be able to get a judge to overrule their parents on the matter.

Mitt also supported strict gun control legislation and gay marriage.

All of this is anathema to real conservatives--fiscal, social, and religious.

Thus, the revolt.

On social networking sites last evening after the results of the Florida primary came rolling in, it was clear that conservatives are livid and in a mood to bolt. And for good reason.

Romney is not, never has been, and never will be acceptable to conservatives. And the fact that in Florida yesterday voter turnout was well below that of 2008--a pattern we are seeing in Iowa, South Carolina, and other states--shows that there is very little passion, enthusiasm, or fire in the belly for Mitt Romney. Voters are lukewarm about him at best and support him only because they have bought into the incessant propaganda of the mainstream media and political pundits that "he is the only one who can beat Obama."

Really, now. Really?

Polls have also shown that Ron Paul has as much of a chance of beating Obama as Romney. So where, then, are the demands from the GOP establishment elites that we must choose Ron Paul because he can appeal to independents and Democrats, in addition to libertarian Republicans? These are the groups a Republican must appeal to in order to beat Obama, and polls show that Romney cannot do it.

Thus, the revolt has begun. And many conservatives have issued the GOP an ultimatum--give us Romney, and we walk, period. Choose a real conservative, and you can keep us in the fold. But no longer will we allow you to shove liberal candidates down our throats, expecting us to blindly go along with it.

In short, stop Romney, or else.
