Conrad Bain has died. The actor was 89 years old. He passed away on Mon., Jan. 14, 2013 in Livermore, Calif. The actor's daughter, Jennifer Bain, confirmed that he died in his sleep after being unconscious for several days. She called his death "comfortable" and "peaceful," according to a report by People. His death was attributed to natural causes.
People from the generation who grew up during the "Diff'rent Strokes" era remember the character Bain played on the show. He starred alongside Todd Bridges and the late Gary Coleman as their kind, patient and understanding adoptive dad Phillip Drummond. Bain's daughter said her father's real-life personality was similar to Drummond's. He was warm, stable and intellectual, according to his daughter.
Conrad Bain's wife preceded him in death. She passed away in 2009. Bain is survived by three sons, one daughter and his twin brother Bonar.
