Conor Oberst announces new solo album

The lead singer of indie/folk rock mainstays Bright Eyes, has announced plans to release a new solo album. The follow up to his 2009 solo effort, “The Outer South,” will be entitled “Upside Down Mountain” and will be out May 20th. While a Bright Eyes album and a Conor Oberst solo output are going to be different, fans of the band will still find enjoyment from his solo efforts. The expressive lyrics, emotion, and perfectly imperfect vocals are still there. Oberst was also kind enough to share a track off the new new record. The track, “Hundreds of Ways,” is an upbeat, twangy number complete with horns and darkly encouraging lyrics. Along with the new song and promise of a new album, he also announced a spring tour throughout the U.S. with Dawes as the opening act. The tour dates can be seen below.
