Connecting with Earth on Earth Day And Every Day

Remember what it's like to sleep outside under a blanket of stars? Or walk barefoot in the grass?

Happy Earth Day...what is "earthing?"
NASA

You might not have known it at the time, but you were doing something which is NOW called "Earthing," a technique to get you recharged with the Earth's energy.

I found out about Earthing last year and it's a pretty simple and interesting concept.

Earthing, or grounding as it's sometimes called, simply means connecting to Mother Earth's natural, negative surface charge. How do we do this? Just take off your shoes, baby!

This simple act of taking off your shoes and going barefoot outside is highly recommended by experts for health and even anti-aging. The planet is alive with natural energies and we can't be in contact with these energies when our feet are wrapped up into the rubber of our Nike's or the red bottoms of our Louboutin's.

What do you get out of earthing? Better blood flow, less pain and inflammation, more energy and deeper sleep are some of the benefits people are claiming…all from taking off their shoes. The Earthing Institute explains that this connection with the Earth restores a lost electrical signal to the body that seems to be stabilizing…for some, it's like getting that "missing nutrient" that they felt they always were needing.

When you go barefoot, you are soaking up electrons, and these can offset free radicals and help to detoxify the body, according to research.

For indoors, there are all sort of grounding pads and even grounding sheets that you plug into the 3rd plug of a 3 plug outlet….this connects to the existing ground rod in your home, and in turn will help ground you while sitting in front of the computer with all those nasty wireless waves, and even connect to the Earth while you sleep.

I'm really excited to review one of these grounding mats or sheets to see if I feel a difference in my own health. But in the meantime, we can all take advantage of grounding outside the old fashioned way.. and it's FREE.

So This Earth Day and EVERY day, try to slip off those shoes and connect with nature and Mother Earth. Go for a barefoot walk in the grass, or sink your toes into the soft sandy beach. You'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel after!
