Three women were found dead in Manchester, Connecticut and the man suspected of killing the women fatally shot himself in front of police. The man was holding a 13-monthy old baby when he first happened upon police in the parking lot of an apartment complex. According to USA Today on Dec. 8, the man put the baby down before shooting himself.
911 calls of gunshots fired first came into the Manchester, Connecticut Police Department around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday. Police responded to the Dye House Apartments where they first encountered an armed man carrying a toddler.
According to Manchester Police Captain Christopher Davis, a brief confrontation with officers ensued before the man put the child on the ground and fatally shot himself. Although the child appeared to be unharmed, the toddler was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. An officer had taken a shot at the suspect, but it looked as though he missed, according to the reports.
The officers' quick response and their actions are being credited for possibly saving that baby's life. The man was not able to flee with the child, putting the child's life in even more danger.
It was after the man shot himself that the police searched the apartment building and discovered the bodies of three women, all apparent victims of gunshot wounds. The bodies of the three women were found in the same apartment unit together.
The names of the women and the suspect were not released. There is no information at this time regarding a motive or the relationship that the man had to the women and the child. The bodies were removed from the apartment at 6 a.m. on Sunday.
