Connecticut state Rep. Steven Dargan wants gun owners names to be made public following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. And he thinks outing 170,000 gun permit holders through a bill being introduced will somehow stop future violence.
On Friday Dargan told FoxNews.com that in order to "get a broader discussion on gun issues and mental health in the state," that the bill needs to be introduced and signed.
He says that of all the bills to be introduced this year in states across the country that his will be the "least invasive" of all being presented.
Some have called into question the rising call for more gun control in light of the Sandy Hook rampage, citing the fact that criminals can still obtain guns even with stricter controls or bans. And others contend that naming gun owners only serves to put gun owners at risk to criminals seeking guns, rather than stopping another Sandy Hook or Columbine shooting.
And one celebrity gun control mocking video highlights the apparent hypocrisy by those in Hollywood calling for more gun legislation when they appear to be advocates of gun violence in movies and their personal lives.
