Connecticut CB Jasper Howard Killed Early Sunday

Storrs, CT (10/18/09) - UConn junior cornerback Jasper Howard was fatally stabbed outside the student union on the campus of the University of Connecticut early Sunday morning. Details are still emerging about the incident, but more should be known as a press conference was scheduled to begin at 2:30 this afternoon at the Shenkman Center.

It was reported that a fire alarm was pulled just before 12:30 this morning at the student union during a school-sponsored dance and an incident ensued between two groups outside. When police arrived on the scene, Howard and an unidentified person were on the ground with stab wounds.

Howard was taken to Windham Hospital before being airlifted to St. Francis in Hartford where he was pronounced dead.

The shocking incident occurred just hours after an 11 tackle performance in a 38-25 win over Louisville, where Howard forced and recovered a fumble just inside the five yard line as the Cardinals were moving in for a score.

Stay tuned for updates on this tragic event as more details should be released later today.
