East Hartford's massive hill at Wickham Park has the best public sledding hill east of the river, and when you get all the way to the top it has an outstanding view of the Connecticut valley below. Snow shoe the trail system, then sled down the big hill with the kids, it is worth the snowy ride.

Case Mountain Park and Lookout Mountain in Manchester is where one can find the best winter sunsets from the summit of Lookout Mountain. Soon it will move further south and disappears behind the tree line as winter approaches. So get there soon and don't forget the camera as this place is awesome for distant photography of the valley below. This is a cross country skier’s paradise, as the mountain trails are wide and well-marked with lots of hills for a challenging workout.

South Windsor Wildlife Sanctuary in South Windsor Connecticut has an awesome hill with a wide field and a view that is spectacular. Take the family if the snow gets thick enough and toboggan down this great sledding hill.

Vernon's Fox Hill Tower in Henry Park is one of Connecticut's best Town parks. Open roadways, well plowed in the winter, and an excellent hill for sledding. As a parent you can sit in your car and watch the sun go down while the kids play on a very well lit sledding hill. The action is so intense they post rules for sledding here, and huge bales of hay keep you safe from the massive trees that line the edge of the hill.

The top of Henry Park has a parking lot for those who want to enjoy the winter view's but don't want to walk up the big slopes of Wickham Park or Case Mountain Park.
