The state of Conn. has turned as many as 100,000 once legal gun owners into criminals. It is now a Class D Felony to own the recently banned weapons and magazines.
Freedom Outpost reports, "some politicians believe that people failed to register because they didn't know about the law, while others believe this is a direct act of defiance."
The state of Conn. estimates over 350,000 "assault weapons" belonging to as many as 100,000 gun owners remain unregistered. The government says gun owners can destroy, sell or relinquish the recently banned firearms and magazines.
Michael P. Lawlor, the undersecretary for criminal justice policy and planning to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy says:
Those who fail to do so could face serious criminal penalties. Once people realize they can’t keep the guns and magazines, they’re going to get rid of them.
The state of Conn. says around 50,000 gun owners have conformed to the new law. However, this compliance rate is extremely low and amounts to only about 10 to 15 percent of gun owners in the state.
Gun owners in Conn. must comply with the blatantly unconstitutional law or face the real possibility of gun confiscation by government force. The Capitalism Institute has acquired a copy of the letter sent out to 106 rifle owners and 108 residents with high-capacity magazines.
The letter very clearly summarizes the situation gun owners in Conn. face. The letter purportedly says gun owners can:
- Render their assault weapon or magazine permanently inoperable.
- Sell their weapon or magazine to a government-approved dealer.
- Remove their assault weapon or magazine from the state.
- Relinquish their weapon or magazine by giving it directly to the police.
Whatever reason gun owners have refused to comply with the new draconian law, it's being taken as a revolt against the government. Could this lead to gun enforcement officers kicking down doors to confiscate the banned weapons? Only time will tell and it could get very bloody if this happens.

Christianity Examiner Commentary
Our government is out of control, many of our so-called leaders are corrupt and immoral and therefore they try to enforce their will upon "we the people." However, it's our duty as citizens to stand up and speak out against the corruption that has control of our government.
Our elected representatives meet with union and other special interests groups and there seems to be no desire or obligation for politicians to heed the will of those who elected them.
We have policies and laws being made without the approval of Congress at both the national and state level. Our president uses his power to usurp the Constitution in trying disarm "we the people." The true nature of the problem lies in the condition of the heart and a dissolution of biblical principles upon which our nation was founded.
Samuel Adams said: "A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
Our nation, for the most part, is in such a state of moral decay that corruption runs rampant. Despite all the wrong going on in our government most people remain silent about it. The word of God gives us many examples of what to do when "rulers" are corrupt and immoral.
Righteous men in times of corruption and immorality must take a stand for things that are just, right and pure. It's time to stop kowtowing to the government and take a stand for righteousness, liberty and freedom.
