Science-Fiction geekery comes to Orlando August 1-3 with Conjure Florida

Living here on the east coast, most Central Florida residents were unable to make it to San Diego Comic-con this past weekend due to lack of proximity, and had to live vicariously through those who posted their exploits on social media. For any who find themselves wishing they too could join in on the convention atmosphere, be sure to check out Conjure Florida, being held this weekend at the Doubletree by Hilton at the entrance to Universal Orlando.

While not as large as last weekend's event, Conjure Florida does have an array of offerings. A variety of familiar faces from science-fiction will be on-site this weekend, including Mark Sheppard ("Battlestar Galactica", "Doctor Who", "Supernatural"), Nicholas Brendon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), Kelly Hu ("Warehouse 13", "X-Men 2", "Arrow"), and Erin Gray ("Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century", "Star Trek Continues").

In addition to the list of celebrity guests that will be in attendance, there is also a long list of workshops and panels. With topics such as beginner podcasting, how to write a comic book, a variety of steampunk activities, and genre writing (to name a few), in addition to Q&A's and other celebrity activities, there is something for geeks of all interests.

Conjure Florida begins at 2pm on August 1, and runs through August 3. Information regarding tickets, as well as a full list of scheduled events, can be found at the Conjure Florida website.
