In a press release, Arkansas Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) responded to President Barack Obama’s announcement on Wednesday concerning gun control policies, calling the actions “tried-and-failed, anti-Second Amendment policies.”
The father of two young children, Griffin states, “I’m not interested in feel-good legislation that leaves our children no safer and Americans less free.” Referring to the “assault weapons” ban of 1994 to 2004, he points out that it did not stop the Columbine shooting and went on to say that, “No gun control proposal I’ve seen could have made the deranged Connecticut murderer obey the law when he stole firearms and committed his unspeakable rampage.”
Among other ideas for reducing gun violence, Obama wants Congress to reinstate the ban on military-style “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines, even though this has already been proven to have no effect on reducing gun violence. Seeking support from the public by restricting Second Amendment rights in the name of our children, the President and other gun-grabbers are causing deliberate confusion by referring to the AR-15 as a “military-style assault weapon.” When in reality, the two are very different.
The Little Rock Gun Rights Examiner commends Congressman Griffin’s decision to stand up against President Obama’s attack on Second Amendment rights.
