According to a December 10, 2013 story in the Baltimore Sun, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas showed epic courage by being in a plane alone with the Congressional Black Caucus. The esteemed congressmen did not let the opportunity slip and have Cruz an “earful” for the 20 hour flight. There are no details about what was said, but apparently Obamacare did come up. The consensus is also that Cruz is running for president.
The match was about 20 or so against one, and was barely a fair fight, one can imagine, for the congressmen who went up against Princeton debater, Harvard Law educated Ted Cruz. Still, it must have been aggravating to be in the same cabin with the likes of Rep. Elijah Cummings and Rep. John Lewis. Most people use the opportunity for such a long flight to try to get some sleep and acclimate to the time zone change. The last thing most want to do is to argue politics. There is no where one can go if things get ugly.
Still, Cruz likely profited from the exchange. He got to take measure of the sorts or people who will oppose him every step of the way should he become president. The members of the Congressional Black Caucus might even have gotten a little measure of him, which might profit them if they are inclined to. One hopes that the flight back is a little more restful for all concerned.
