Congress overwhelmed with anti-Obamacare sentiments after Ted Cruz speech

While the predictable firing squad of hatred commentary against Texas Senator Ted Cruz was spewing from the Washington establishment and their mainstream media, after his 21-hour speech on the Senate Floor this week, millions of Americans were standing up strong against funding Obamacare.

“You’re the most hated man in Washington,” declared Michael Berry during his news radio commentary program interview with Cruz Thursday. “But you are the moved loved man by Americans tonight.”

Cruz asked Berry listeners to sign a petition on www.dontfundit.com to help get the message out to Congress.

In just one hour Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn's Facebook page was filled with over a thousand responses to his question about shutting down the government and Obamacare. Overwhelming, his constituents and responders want to defund Obamacare.

...even if it doesn't defund Obamacare?

"Just asking," Cornyn's Facebook status asked about 2 p.m. (CST) from Washington D.C. "How many of you are for shutting down the government even if it doesn't defund Obamacare?"

The comments came in immediately with a loud and clear message: Shut down the government and defund Obamacare!

As with many Senators, Cornyn's email and phones have been flooded with correspondence from angry voters, many furious about the tactics he and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell used against Cruz before and after the speech.

Alma Morales answered firmly, “I think it is shameful to blackmail us with that but to be honest, maybe we should shut down to get rid of Obamacare....the govt. is so broken anyway....maybe we should start over.”

We do not want Obamacare

“If it matters to you what the people of your State want...then listen to us,” Morales continued. “We do not want Obamacare....we have been saying it since day one....the fact is that no one in Washington listened....y'all think you know what is better for us...we are not children and we are not stupid....we know what we don't want and we don't want Obamacare or Obama for that matter.”

"I support Ted Cruz!" said Jeremy Reynolds. "Ted Cruz went to bat for us. Vote NO on closure! We don't want unconstitutional Obamacare!"

Janet Clark responded, "Do NOT fund Obamacare. Your constituents do not want it."

"Shut it (the government) and Obamacare down," Joan Russell Wimberly commented.

Put all federal employees on Obamacare

As the responses came flowing in, another status was soon added to Cornyn's Facebook page:

"All Americans (including Congress should be treated the same: Just agreed to co-sponsor Rand Paul's amendment to put all federal employees on Obamacare exchanges if we are not successful (yet) in defunding, delaying, or repealing Obamacare?"

About an hour later, his staff tried again, but still received similar responses to his next status update:

Congress should never exempt itself or the federal government from a law it forces onto the American people."

Congress should never exempt itself

Later a press release from Cornyn stated the senator “cosponsored an amendment by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to the continuing resolution (CR) that would make all federal government employees subject to Obamacare.”

“Congress should never exempt itself or the federal government from a law it forces onto the American people,” Cornyn stated. “Obamacare is bad for everyone in the country, which is why I have fought it tooth and nail for the better part of four years to see that every American is exempt. But until we can defund, repeal or replace it, everyone in the country ought to be treated exactly the same and there should be no special deals for anyone.”

Cornyn’s release mentioned “Paul’s amendment would amend the President’s healthcare law to require all federal government employees to receive insurance through the Obamacare health exchanges. These federal employees would not be eligible for any subsidy more generous than the American public receives.”

In spite of what the mainstream media reports

"Shut it down," Brenda Sollenberger-Mabry demanded. "In spite of what the mainstream media reports or Obama proclaims, it isn't the first time the government has to shut down. (It) has happened several times in our history and we are still here."

"We need to stand up and fight," Mabry continued. "We cannot afford another government hand out program. There will be several senators, I have a feeling who's senate careers may end in 2014 for not representing their constituents and they promised to do. WE THE PEOPLE, we are the boss!"

"Shut it down! None of you deserve to be in office if the only way to stop Obamacare is a Ted Cruz filibuster and government shut down," Elizabeth Priebe stated.
