Congregation Ale House is a fairly new addition to the downtown Long Beach area (opened on September 5, 2010), and we’ve welcomed it with open arms and now seems like an establishment that’s been around forever. It’s the place to go for all beer lovers- with well over 30 types of beer to choose from. They also have a great selection of bar food as well.
If you haven’t been to church in a while, you should definitely attend Congregation’s “Mass” also known as happy hour. Their “Mass” schedule is as follows: Monday Mass- happy hour specials all day. Midnight Mass- Sunday through Thursday and starts at midnight. And Mid Day Mass- Monday through Friday from 3pm to 7pm.
All draft beers and wines are $1 off, and there’s also “The Chosen One”, a $3 draft special. For the hard liquor drinkers- well drinks are $4. If you’re feeling hungry- burgers, sausages, and flatbreads are $6. Fries are $3. And their fresh cut chips are $2. If you can’t make it for “Mass”, try going for their daily lunch special- any sandwich of your choice and fries for $7.
Everything on the food menu is under $8. There are also specialty platters that range from $10-$30 typically to share, or for those with a big appetite.
Out of all the food items on their menu- I really want to talk about their amazing “Exotic Sausages” (go ahead and laugh). All sausages are served with flatbread and range from $7-$8. My number one sausage would have to be the Pork & Goat Cheese Sausage (served with grilled onions, sweet peppers, and chipotle mayo) it’s absolutely mouth watering… my mouth is watering right now actually. Another favorite would go to the Duck & Bacon Sausage (served with grilled onions, sweet peppers, and sweet mustard). C’mon… duck AND bacon? Who can say “no” to that? That’s right… nobody! This place is marked as a “vegetarian favorite” under Yelp for the one vegan sausage they offer- Vegan Apple Sage Sausage (also served with grilled onions, sweet peppers and sweet mustard)- as a former vegetarian and a “born again” lover of meats, this sausage has my seal of approval.
If you’re not able to make it to Congregation during the week day, don’t fret- they also have weekend brunch specials. Mimosas are $3.50 and Bloody Mary pitchers are $7.50. There’s also “Palm Sunday”, offering Belgium’s Palm beer for $4 all day.
With specials every day of the week- there’s no reason for you to not attend. Congregation Ale House definitely deserves the 4 stars on Yelp with over 600 reviews- making it one of Long Beach’s favorites.
So if you’re not offended by its theme and find yourself on the corner of Broadway and Pine in Long Beach- go in, say a little a prayer, and enjoy.
